The Everydayer — “Ole Miss Got Right At Exactly The Right Time” (Monday, November 2, 2026)

The Everydayer Newsletter, Morning News masthead, November 2, 2026

Good morning, Everydayers. It’s Monday of Georgia week. Ole Miss beat Auburn 45-15, stayed at No. 12 in the AP poll, and now gets No. 2 Georgia in Oxford Saturday night. Today’s LOOM Flagship has three things from the Auburn win, why a quiet day from Deuce Alexander in a 45-point game matters, and this week’s SEC lines.

☕ Morning Coffee

“Ole Miss got right at exactly the right time.”

That’s Steven’s open on today’s LOOM Flagship. “Now it knows what it takes to beat Georgia. It just has to do it.” Three things from Auburn:

  • The ultimate get-right game, at the perfect time. A week after Austin, the first quarter ended 0-0 and Auburn cut it to 17-15 in the third. Then Ole Miss scored the last 28 points. Trinidad Chambliss ran seven times for 65 yards and a 26-yard touchdown after three straight games under 10 rushing yards, and the defense that got gashed late at Texas held Auburn to 63 rushing yards on 27 carries. Ole Miss converted 13 of 16 third downs. It’s the 16th straight home win, which ties the program record. “It walks with its confidence back. They got their swagger back.”
  • Shekai Mills-Knight gave Ole Miss exactly what it needed. Kewan Lacy didn’t play, and Ole Miss still ran 49 times for 224 yards and four touchdowns. Mills-Knight ran for a career-high 71 yards, per the postgame press conference, and scored from the 1 before halftime. Ole Miss ran 84 plays, punted once and held the ball for more than 32 minutes. Georgia held Florida to 54 rushing yards Saturday, so nobody runs for 224 on that front. But Ole Miss now knows it can lean on Mills-Knight for 15 to 20 carries and stay balanced.
  • Ole Miss showed what it takes to beat Georgia. Now it has to do it. Stop the run: Auburn averaged 2.3 a carry. Protect the quarterback: no sacks allowed. Win third down. Take the ball away: two forced fumbles, a blocked extra point and a stopped two-point try. Georgia beat Florida 27-8 by running for 217 yards and forcing four turnovers, but threw for only 101. The catch: Ole Miss has scored on its opening drive once all season. “Against Georgia at night, you can’t necessarily do that. But the blueprint’s there.”

🏅 LOOM Player of the Week: Trinidad Chambliss

Locked On Ole Miss Player of the Week card: Trinidad Chambliss vs Auburn, 263 passing yards, 65 rushing yards, 3 total touchdowns

Two touchdown passes, a 26-yard touchdown run and 65 rushing yards, a week after three interceptions in Austin. Chambliss was 9 of 15 for 100 yards and an interception in the first half, then 13 of 19 for 163 yards and two touchdowns after halftime, plus six carries for 65 yards and a score. He has now thrown a touchdown pass in 21 straight games. Chad Kelly’s school record is 22. One touchdown pass Saturday night ties it, against Georgia.

More from Chambliss on the Hub: “There was a lot of fog in my mind”.

🏈 A Quiet Deuce Day, And 45 Points

Deuce Alexander is the best receiver on this team, and Saturday wasn’t his day: five catches for 59 yards, no touchdown and a muffed punt that Johntay Cook II had to fall on. Ole Miss scored 45 anyway. Horatio Fields caught six for 73 and a touchdown, Caleb Cunningham caught six for 55 and a touchdown, and Luke Hasz converted a third-and-12 in the fourth quarter. Seven different players scored or kicked a field goal, and the Deuce who found the end zone was backup quarterback Deuce Knight.

Pete Golding saw it the same way. He went and found Alexander in the tunnel after the game and told him what made him happiest was that Ole Miss scored 45 while its best player didn’t. Steven’s line on today’s show is the Georgia half of it: “The depth is the floor. Deuce Alexander is the ceiling of this unit.” Georgia intercepted Florida three times Saturday. Ole Miss probably doesn’t beat that defense with five catches from its No. 1.
