The Everydayer — “You Can Win Tuesday, Though” (Wednesday, October 28, 2026)

The Everydayer Newsletter, Morning News masthead, October 28, 2026

Good morning, Everydayers, and happy 10 Million View Celebration week. Three days to Auburn. Today’s LOOM Flagship is built from Tuesday’s three Ole Miss press conferences: Blake Purchase on the two runs that swung Texas, Caleb Odom on the slow starts, and Delano Townsend on life without Kewan Lacy.

Watch today’s LOOM Flagship: two angles, slow starts, and life without Kewan Lacy.

☕ Morning Coffee

“You cannot win 5 games on Tuesday. You can win Tuesday, though.”

That’s Steven on today’s LOOM Flagship. Three players, three answers, one message. Three things from the show:

  • It was two angles. Blake Purchase went back to the Texas film and came out with a count, and he hedged it himself: “they had like 100 or something plus yards on 2 rushes.” That sits close to Pete Golding’s Monday number, 121 fourth-quarter rushing yards from the 10:30 mark on. Purchase’s fix: “It’s just leveraging the ball, taking good angles on tackles.” And for Auburn quarterback Byrum Brown: “get multiple guys on him because he’s definitely a hard guy to get down.”
  • The slow starts belong to everybody. Steven noted Ole Miss has scored on its opening drive once this season, against Charlotte. Caleb Odom didn’t point at one position group: “we just got to be better, like just period. At the O-line position, tight end position, receivers.” His fix is to play faster and more physical early. Asked about Trinidad Chambliss saying Ole Miss has to win out, Odom took it a day at a time: “that starts with this Tuesday practice. Tomorrow’s Wednesday practice. Thursday’s walkthrough.”
  • No drop-off without Kewan Lacy. Asked how much changes up front with Lacy out, left guard Delano Townsend said, “Not a lot.” Makhi Frazier ran for 101 yards against Missouri and 47 on six carries at Texas after Lacy went down. Townsend: “I don’t think it’s like really a drop-off.” Terez Davis did not play at Texas, Connor Howes moved from right tackle to left, and Golding expects Davis back this week.

🗺️ The Path

Steven’s read on what is still in front of a 5-2 team: Auburn, Georgia, at Oklahoma, Wofford and Mississippi State, with four of the five in Oxford. Handle the games Ole Miss should win, beat Georgia at home, win in Norman, and he thinks this team is not just in the Playoff. It may be in Atlanta, too.

On Georgia: every one of Kirby Smart’s wins over Ole Miss has come in Athens. The Bulldogs come to Oxford on Nov. 7.

Purchase put the stakes plainly: “now we got to go 1-0 every day… the margin for error has decreased significantly.”

🏠 Never at Home

Ole Miss has won 15 straight at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium and is 38-3 at home since 2021. All three players got the home question Tuesday. Townsend’s answer was the shortest: “We never try to lose, but, you know, never at home.” Odom called the home record “a reflection of our fans, our people here.”

🏈 The Numbers

  • 2: the runs Purchase counted for 100-plus Texas yards, per his own film study
  • 121: Texas rushing yards in the fourth quarter from the 10:30 mark on, per Golding
  • 1: opening-drive scores for Ole Miss this season, per Steven
  • 480: Byrum Brown’s rushing yards this season, per Ole Miss Athletics
  • 38-3: Ole Miss at home since 2021, with 15 straight wins

🎤 What They Said

So really just making sure we run to the ball, get multiple guys on him.

Blake Purchase, on Byrum Brown

I don’t really think that there ever is a day off, honestly.

Caleb Odom

Nah, they’re a good football team, you know, but it’s about what we do.
