Kewan Lacy is out for Auburn with a dislocated shoulder. Asked Tuesday how much that changes things for the offensive line, Ole Miss left guard Delano Townsend did not hesitate.
Not a lot because we had, you know, we have a back in [Makhi Frazier] and other guys, you know, that’s willing to step up in that role. You know, Kewan is our guy, but, you know, when he’s not able to go, you know, [Frazier] steps up in that role. So I don’t think it’s like really a drop-off.

Frazier ran for 101 yards against Missouri and 47 on six carries at Texas after Lacy went down. Pete Golding said Monday that Frazier has played well and that Shekai Mills-Knight will get a real opportunity this week.
“Us not missing a beat”
The Ole Miss line has drawn national attention this season while shuffling pieces. Left tackle Terez Davis missed the Texas game, and Golding has said the line did not allow a sack in Austin. Townsend credited the depth.
Just our ability to, you know, have guys, you know, back us up, you know, with certain guys going down, guys sliding in those roles, and, you know, us not missing a beat as an offensive line, just being on the same page together.

He said the three returning interior linemen, himself, Patrick Kutas and Brycen Sanders, know each other’s game.
Just that middle 3 is just we all know how each other operate. You know, we— we all got each other’s back.

He also credited the tight ends, naming Caleb Odom and Luke Hasz, for the combination blocks and the communication across the line.
“Never at home”
Ole Miss has won 15 straight at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Asked if that streak is a confidence builder, Townsend kept it short.
Yeah, for sure. We never try to lose, but, you know, never at home.

On Golding’s post-Texas line that there are no more days off, Townsend said nothing changed.
It’s really been the same. You know, I think he’s just been like, we can’t— like, we’ve been really not taking no days off, you know what I’m saying? But, you know, just taking every day, you know, step by step, you know, getting better every day.

And on Auburn, which visits No. 12 Ole Miss on Saturday at 11:45 a.m. CT on SEC Network:
Nah, they’re a good football team, you know, but it’s about what we do.
