The Everydayer — “Never At Home” (Wednesday, October 28, 2026)

The Everydayer Newsletter, Morning News masthead, October 28, 2026

Good morning, Everydayers, and thank you for another day of our 10 Million View Celebration week. Ole Miss players had their say Tuesday. Blake Purchase found the Texas game in two runs, Caleb Odom owned the slow starts, and Delano Townsend says the line sees no drop-off without Kewan Lacy.

“We never try to lose, but, you know, never at home.”

That’s Ole Miss left guard Delano Townsend on Tuesday, asked about 15 straight wins at Vaught-Hemingway. Today’s LOOM Flagship was built from three player press conferences. Here’s what they said.

🏈 Blake Purchase Found Texas In Two Runs

Ole Miss defensive end Blake Purchase went back to the Texas film and came out with a number: “Like 100 or something plus yards on 2 rushes.” It’s his own count, and he hedged it, but it lines up with Pete Golding’s 121 fourth-quarter rushing yards from the 10:30 mark on, across two plays with missed tackles in the hole.

Purchase’s fix is angles, not talent: “leveraging the ball, taking good angles on tackles.” His plan for Auburn quarterback Byrum Brown, who has 480 rushing yards per Ole Miss Athletics: “Get multiple guys on him because he’s definitely a hard guy to get down.” And the mindset: “Now we got to go 1-0 every day.”

🎯 Caleb Odom On The Slow Starts

Ole Miss has scored on its first drive once this season, against Charlotte. Tight end Caleb Odom didn’t point at one group: “We just got to be better, like just period.” The fix: “play faster, play more physical to start off.”

On Trinidad Chambliss saying Ole Miss has to win out: “Win out is obviously what we want to do,” but “that starts with this Tuesday practice. Tomorrow’s Wednesday practice. Thursday’s walkthrough.” His road plan, every time: “to empty the stadium.” And his scouting report on Auburn: “very similar to Texas.”

🛡️ Delano Townsend: “Never At Home”

Kewan Lacy is out for Auburn. Asked how much that changes things up front, left guard Delano Townsend said, “Not a lot,” and added, “I don’t think it’s like really a drop-off,” with Makhi Frazier stepping in. The line didn’t allow a sack at Texas with Terez Davis out, and Townsend credited the depth: “us not missing a beat.”

On 15 straight wins at Vaught-Hemingway: “We never try to lose, but, you know, never at home.” On Auburn: “They’re a good football team, you know, but it’s about what we do.”
