Good morning, Everydayers, and welcome to our 10 Million View Celebration week. Thank you. Kewan Lacy is out for Auburn, Pete Golding says Trinidad Chambliss is about to run again, and an Ole Miss legend says the math is simple from here.
🏈 Legend Speaks: John Fourcade
Ole Miss great John Fourcade joined Locked On Ole Miss on Monday to break down the Texas loss, and he boiled the rest of the season down to one sentence: “Don’t lose another game and you’re in.”
On the head coach: “Golding has adjusted really good after a loss.” On Will Muschamp’s Texas defense: “That guy can coach defense.” And on his own record in the stands this season: “They’re 2-0 when I’m there.” He says he will be in Oxford on Saturday.
Fourcade’s predictions for Saturday’s margin are his alone, so they stay out of this newsletter.

☕ Morning Coffee
“So that’s the plan. And it is a better plan than panic.”
That’s Steven on today’s LOOM Flagship, after a Monday press conference where Pete Golding didn’t hedge on anything. Three things from the show:
- Kewan Lacy is out. Pete Golding said Lacy dislocated his shoulder at Texas. It is the same shoulder he hurt against LSU, but a different injury, and Golding did not leave the door open: “There’s no chance that we’re going to try that at all this week.” Makhi Frazier (101 yards against Missouri, 47 on six carries at Texas) leads the room, and Golding said Shekai Mills-Knight “is going to have a real opportunity this week.”
- Trinidad Chambliss is about to run again. Chambliss ran for seven yards at Texas, his third straight game under 10. Golding said defenses have built plans with spies to keep him in the pocket, and that Chambliss has worked on going through his reads. But late at Texas, against man coverage with a spy, the message was “hey, man, you can outrun them.” Golding’s promise: “I think you’ll see a little more of that moving forward.”
- Golding’s come-to-Jesus with the defense. Asked how his defense has developed, Golding said: “I think it’s been very inconsistent.” Texas ran for 121 yards in the fourth quarter from the 10:30 mark on. “I’m not mad that we missed the tackle. They’re not perfect. They’re going to miss tackles. It’s how we missed the tackle.” He called Sunday night’s meeting “a come to Jesus.”

🏥 Injury Report
| Player | Status |
|---|---|
| Kewan Lacy, RB | Out vs. Auburn (dislocated shoulder) |
| Terez Davis, LT | Expected back this week. Golding said he was a game-time decision at Texas |
| Edwin Joseph, DB | Doubtful: “Don’t feel great about it this week” |
| Will Echoles, DT | Left the Texas game for an IV (dehydration) and returned |
🛡️ Stopping Byrum Brown
Golding said the Auburn offense runs through quarterback Byrum Brown, who he said leads the SEC in quarterback run game. Brown has 480 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns, plus 1,365 passing yards and eight touchdowns, per Ole Miss Athletics. Golding’s plan: “The key to the drill to me is you got to eliminate the quarterback run game.” Get negative plays early, force Auburn into obvious passing downs, and change the coverage picture.

🏈 The Numbers
- 121: Texas rushing yards in the fourth quarter from the 10:30 mark on, per Golding
- 74: defensive snaps Ole Miss had played by the 6:30 mark of the fourth quarter at Texas, per Golding
- 7: Chambliss’s rushing yards at Texas, his third straight game under 10
- 480: Byrum Brown’s rushing yards this season, the most on Auburn
- 15: straight home wins for Ole Miss heading into Saturday
