The Everydayer — “That Is Why Ole Miss Will Win” (Friday, October 23, 2026)

The Everydayer Newsletter, Morning News masthead, October 23, 2026

Good morning, Everydayers. It’s the Friday before Texas. Ole Miss has a scoring floor Texas hasn’t reached against a Power 4 team, the line hasn’t budged, and the front five is questionable in two spots. Today’s LOOM Flagship has why Ole Miss wins, three keys and the Vegas read.

Today’s LOOM Flagship: why Ole Miss wins in Austin, three keys and the Vegas read.

☕ Morning Coffee

“Ole Miss’ worst day this year is 28 points. Texas hadn’t scored 25 against a Power 4 team this season. That is why Ole Miss will win.”

That’s Steven’s open on today’s LOOM Flagship, straight from the game notes. Three things from the show:

  • The floor and the ceiling. Ole Miss has scored 41, 41, 32, 28, 52 and 31, per the school’s game notes. The 28 came in the loss at Florida. Texas has scored 24, 20, 24 and 24 against Power 4 teams. The run game has gone 63, 128, 196 and 257 yards in four SEC games.
  • Three keys. Tempo first: Ole Miss snaps it every 23.5 seconds, eighth-fastest in the country. Then win first and second down: Texas has gone 8 of 36 on third down over its last three games, per the Texas notes. Blake Purchase leads Ole Miss with 6.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. Third is Kewan Lacy in the red zone, with 29 rushing touchdowns since the start of last season.
  • The line up front. Terez Davis, Delano Townsend, Brycen Sanders and Patrick Kutas have started all six games, and Connor Howes the last five. Davis and Sanders are questionable and Kutas is probable, per HottyToddy.com, which sees “no reason to believe any of the three are in serious danger of missing the game.” Steven’s fallback: if one sits, Kutas has shown he can slide over and make the calls.

🎤 What They Said

They’re doing a better job with their leverage. They’re getting more movement at the point of attack.

Ole Miss legend Todd Wade, on the Ole Miss offensive line

Steven, on how the game goes: “Ole Miss has to survive the first 20 minutes of this game and win the middle 8.” Texas led Oklahoma 17-7 at halftime and Florida 17-3 late in the first half, and lost both by three.
