FOOTBALL

1. “Eighty percent the same” — JDB’s offense in Week 2. Angle: Baker’s Week 2 presser is the freshest hook — “trust over talent,” wanting “five or six guys I can trust” at receiver, tempo as an advantage (not a crutch), and a tight-end room he’s still “figuring out where to use.” Ties straight to our JDB canon (between-the-hashes, Lebby-over-Weis).

2. Chambliss: QB1 with a brand-new supporting cast + national Heisman buzz. Angle: Five of six pass-catchers are gone; the story is who he elevates. Pair with the national Heisman projection leading into the year and a fresh SEC-coach endorsement. Keep it candidacy/production, not betting lines (Rule #37).

3. Golding’s first camp — playoff roster, “little grace period.” Angle: The ceiling file. He inherited/authored a top-10 roster and there’s no runway; frame the good-coach-vs-great-coach question fairly (our own 8/4 position). Golding’s Day 1 transcript is a clean quote source.

4. No. 10 in the initial Coaches Poll — respect vs. schedule. Angle: National number to anchor expectations against the gauntlet (LSU, at Florida, at Texas, Georgia, at Oklahoma). Humans see the roster; the schedule is the tax.

5. The position battles that decide the ceiling. Angle: Run the five-item watch list — right tackle, “who’s the guy after Deuce,” the CB1 domino, the new LB pairing, chemistry (watch day ten). Depth-chart projection + the NIL additions who need a strong August.

6. Sept. 19 LSU / Kiffin’s return + the rev-share suit (professional lane only). Angle: The SEC home opener is Kiffin’s return to Oxford (primetime, ABC). Separately and carefully: the UNIVERSITY (plaintiff — not the collective) has filed suit against two departed players over exit fees in revenue-sharing agreements, ~$1M combined. No player names on air; no personal jabs at Kiffin; the mid-season-departure ban is the “Kiffin Rule” per lawmakers only, never as a dig.

OTHER SPORTS (secondary)

Men’s basketball — Puerto Rico foreign tour wraps. Angle: Chris Beard’s largely new group (only three returners) used the Aug. 1–5 Puerto Rico trip to find combinations ahead of the season. Good offseason-hoops hit.

Baseball — offseason. No fresh baseball news in the last 1–2 days (out of season). Nothing to report rather than force it.
