The Everydayer — “15 To 20 Minutes Of Elite Football” (Thursday, October 22, 2026)

The Everydayer Newsletter, Morning News masthead, October 22, 2026

Good morning, Everydayers. Texas has led by double digits in both of its losses, Arch Manning is still the starter, and Kewan Lacy is going home. Today’s LOOM Flagship crosses over with Brad Kellner of Locked On Longhorns.

Watch today’s LOOM Flagship: Ole Miss vs. Texas with Brad Kellner of Locked On Longhorns.

☕ Morning Coffee

“Texas is playing 15 to 20 minutes of elite football every week.”

That’s Brad Kellner of Locked On Longhorns on today’s LOOM Flagship. The problem, he said, is the other 40 to 45 minutes, “where Texas just looks lost.” Three things from the show:

  • The other 40 minutes. Texas led Oklahoma 17-7 at halftime and Florida 17-3 late in the first half, and lost both by three. Brad’s numbers: Texas was outscored 37-14 in the second halves of those two games and hasn’t scored a third-quarter touchdown since Week 1.
  • Arch Manning starts. Steve Sarkisian confirmed it, and Manning said, “I haven’t put good film on tape for the last five weeks, and I’m going to be better” (Field Level Media). Brad says backup KJ Lacey’s first-team reps are up “a lot.” Steven’s answer is the Missouri plan: show pressure, hide who’s coming and make the quarterback decide.
  • Kewan Lacy goes home. The Lancaster, Texas, native comes off 122 yards on 16 carries against Missouri. And with Colin Simmons reportedly out, Ole Miss can run its full offense instead of keeping backs and tight ends in to block.

🏈 The Numbers

  • 17-7 and 17-3: Texas’s leads against Oklahoma (halftime) and Florida (late first half). It lost both by three
  • 37-14: Texas’s second-half deficit in those two losses, per Locked On Longhorns
  • 126th: Texas nationally in plays of 20 yards or more, per Locked On Longhorns
  • 0: Texas takeaways in its last three games, per the Texas game notes
  • 100%: Ole Miss red-zone scoring through six games

🎤 What They Said

The communication piece is going to be really important.

From the other side of the crossover, Brad Kellner: “Trinidad Chambliss is good enough to beat you by himself, but if Ole Miss can be multidimensional as an offense” — it makes them “very, very difficult to stop.” Steven’s defenders to watch: Luke Ferrelli, the Locked On Ole Miss Player of the Game against Missouri, and Blake Purchase.
