Kewan Lacy left Missouri to come to Ole Miss. On Saturday he ran for 122 yards against the Tigers in a 31-3 win, and he admitted the opponent meant something.
Coming from there, transferring from there, just gave it a little extra motivation to go out there, prepare the right way.
Lacy’s 122 yards on 16 carries were a season high and his first 100-yard game since the 2026 College Football Playoff semifinals, according to Ole Miss Athletics. He also hurdled Missouri cornerback Chris Graves Jr., a former teammate. Asked whether he had ever done that to a former teammate before: “At practice, probably.”
“I want to play all 4 quarters”
Lacy left the game banged up and came back after halftime. Pete Golding said afterward that it was not the shoulder this time, and that he had to pull Lacy late over his objections. Lacy did not argue the point.
I want to play all 4 quarters of the game, be out there supporting my teammates. So just having that mindset, finish all 4 quarters of the game is just something I stand by.
He described a week built around treatment. “Just sticking to my schedule, treatment, rehab, practice, just sticking to the schedule every day, day by day, just getting better.” On whether it wears on him: “Nicks and bruises are always going to occur. It’s a physical sport. So you just got to attack whatever you’re doing.”
Two 100-yard backs
Makhi Frazier added a career-high 101 yards on 15 carries, giving Ole Miss two 100-yard rushers in the same game for the first time since 2022. Ole Miss out-rushed Missouri 257-39.
“Makhi, he went for 100 yards today,” Lacy said. “I feel like we’re just heating up, getting the chemistry right. We got the guys up front, we got the quarterback, the receivers. So I feel like we got every component on the field that we need.”
