Two Hundred Fifty-Seven on the Ground to Thirty-Nine: No. 9 Ole Miss Routs No. 13 Missouri 31-3 on Homecoming

UNIVERSITY RELEASE — Originally published by Ole Miss Athletics, Oct. 17, 2026.

No. 9 Ole Miss gave up a field goal on Missouri’s opening possession and nothing else, beating the No. 13 Tigers 31-3 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in the program’s 99th Homecoming game. The Rebels are 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the SEC. Missouri falls to 5-2 and 2-2.

By Quarter

Ole Miss 31, Missouri 3 — Ole Miss 7, 14, 0, 10; Missouri 3, 0, 0, 0

Blake Craig’s 27-yard field goal was the only time Missouri scored all afternoon. Trinidad Chambliss answered with a 10-yard touchdown pass to Caleb Odom, added a 21-yard strike to Horatio Fields and capped a 10-play, 80-yard drive with a touchdown throw to Caleb Cunningham for a 21-3 halftime lead. Neither team scored in the third. Chambliss ran one in himself in the fourth and Lucas Carneiro closed it with a 38-yard field goal.

Who Did It

  • Trinidad Chambliss — 20-of-36 for 241 yards and three touchdown passes, plus a rushing touchdown
  • Kewan Lacy — 16 carries for 122 yards
  • Makhi Frazier — 15 carries for 101 yards, a career high
  • Caleb Cunningham — three catches for 61 yards and a touchdown
  • Caleb Odom — four catches for 37 yards and a touchdown
  • Horatio Fields — a touchdown catch, one of two Rebels past 40 receiving yards alongside Traylon Ray
  • Sharif Denson — nine tackles, six solo, and a tackle for loss
  • Will Echoles — five tackles, two pass breakups and a sack
  • Tahj Butler — seven tackles, five solo, and a quarterback hurry
  • Landon Barnes — the first interception of his career, off Austin Simmons
  • Lucas Carneiro — a 38-yard field goal
  • Oscar Bird — four punts

The Margins

The line of the afternoon is the rushing column: Ole Miss ran for 257 yards at 6.7 a carry, Missouri for 39. Two Rebel backs cleared 100 on the same day — Lacy at 122 and Frazier at a career-best 101 — and the ground game is what turned a one-score first quarter into a four-score final.

Chambliss spread it around rather than leaning on one target: four receivers caught three or more passes, and his three touchdown throws went to three different players. Missouri never scored again after that opening possession, and Barnes’s first career interception was the only takeaway the Rebels needed.

What It Meant

It was Ole Miss’s first win over Missouri since 1974, and the 15th consecutive home win for the Rebels — the second-longest active streak in the FBS. Ole Miss is now 80-17-2 all-time in Homecoming games in Oxford. Head coach Pete Golding improved to 5-2 all-time against ranked opponents.

Chambliss cracked the Ole Miss all-time top 10 for career passing yards and threw a touchdown pass for the 19th straight game, tying Matt Corral for the second-longest such streak in program history.

Up Next

Ole Miss goes on the road to face No. 7 Texas (4-2, 1-2) on Saturday, Oct. 24, at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is 6:30 p.m. CT on ABC.
