Three Of Five Locked On Hosts Picked Missouri To Win In Oxford

Ole Miss hosts Missouri on Saturday in a week framed as playoff elimination for as many as four SEC teams. Five Locked On hosts picked the Oxford matchup and three took Missouri on the road. Ole Miss ranks last in the SEC against the run, and Kewan Lacy carried seven times last week in his second game back.

The Locked On SEC host who convened the panel asked whether anybody liked Ole Miss at home. Then he flipped his own pick off Missouri to the Rebels, leaving three hosts on the visitors. He offered no case beyond the building.

The Locked On Mizzou host, who has called Missouri the conference’s dark horse playoff team, said his team needs a faster offensive start because Oxford is a different level. Missouri’s path, he argued, is keying on Lacy and stopping the run to make Ole Miss one-dimensional. He conceded the discomfort: Trinidad Chambliss makes him nervous, and Missouri’s defense had been tremendous until Mississippi State’s quarterback threw for more than 300 yards on it.

The Locked On Bama host said the Ole Miss defense is hard to trust and the quarterback matchup deserves far more national attention, calling it a possible first-rounder against first-rounder and the weekend’s best game. Another panelist was blunter: Ole Miss will not stop Missouri from running, and if Missouri’s back goes off, the visitors hold the ball all day.

Both hosts who took Ole Miss leaned on Oxford rather than the defense. One called this defense a disaster he never expected from a Pete Golding team, then took the Rebels anyway because Missouri is the trendy team and this smells like a week Ole Miss just takes. The panel’s prediction was narrower than its vote: whoever has the ball last probably wins.
