Kai Milburn and Igor Kudriashov won the doubles title at the ITA Division I Men’s Southern Regional Championships in Auburn, Alabama, on Monday, closing out an Auburn pair in a second-set tiebreak. On the same afternoon, Ole Miss put two men into the singles final.
Doubles — The Title
- Igor Kudriashov and Kai Milburn def. Auburn’s Aleksander Blus and Theo Hegarty, 6-3, 7-6(7-4)
The first set went the straightforward way at 6-3. The second did not — it reached a tiebreak, and Milburn and Kudriashov took it 7-4 to finish the match rather than play a third.
Singles — Semifinals
- Igor Kudriashov def. teammate Vlado Jankanj, 7-6(7-5), 6-4
- Niccolo Baroni def. Auburn’s Manel Lazaro Juncadella, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0
Kudriashov needed a first-set tiebreak to get past Jankanj and advanced to the championship match. It was the second straight round in which an Ole Miss win came at another Rebel’s expense. Baroni went the other direction, dropping the first set 4-6 before taking the next two 6-3 and 6-0 and securing his own place in the singles final.
Up Next
Kudriashov and Baroni both reached the singles final — Kudriashov through the all-Rebel semifinal, Baroni past Lazaro Juncadella. The release does not give a time for the championship match.
