Ole Miss sent four men into the singles quarterfinals at the ITA Division I Men’s Southern Regional Championships in Auburn, Alabama, winning four of its six round-of-16 matches and keeping a doubles pair alive as well.
Singles — Round of 16
- Igor Kudriashov def. Alabama’s Yoshka Sborowsky, 6-3, 6-4
- Vlado Jankanj def. North Alabama’s Satoru Nakajima, 6-2, 6-0
- Mason Landreth def. Auburn’s Freddy Blaydes, 6-2, 6-4
- Niccolo Baroni def. Auburn’s Patrik Munkhammar, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4
- Kai Milburn fell to Alabama’s Matic Kriznik, 6-1, 6-3
- Moritz Kudernatsch fell to Auburn’s Manel Lazaro Juncadella, 7-6(4), 3-6, 7-5
Jankanj’s 6-2, 6-0 was the cleanest win of the round for the Rebels. Baroni needed three sets to get past Munkhammar after dropping the middle one, and Kudernatsch went the full three the other way — a first-set tiebreak against him, the second set in hand, and then a 7-5 third.
Doubles
- Kudriashov and Milburn won twice, beating Ausias Melo and Til Ole Li Zimmerman in the opening round and then Braden Hanning and Vit Kalina, 8-6, to advance
- Jankanj and Landreth opened with an 8-6 win over Ilie Cazac and Joao Barreto, then went out 8-6 to Blaydes and Tyler Boers in the round of 16
- Stefan Vedovelli and Baroni fell 8-6 to Luciano Alcocer and Gabriel Garay
Four of the Rebels’ doubles matches on the day finished 8-6 — two of them wins, two of them losses. Jankanj and Landreth got one of each. The one that mattered most was Kudriashov and Milburn’s 8-6 over Hanning and Kalina, the result that leaves Ole Miss with a pair still in the draw.
