Crook’s 1,000th Kill: Volleyball Beats Missouri in Four to Go 2-0 in the SEC

UNIVERSITY RELEASE — Originally published by Ole Miss Athletics, Oct. 2, 2026.

Ole Miss took three of four sets from Missouri on Friday evening at the Gillom Athletics Performance Center, moving to 2-0 in the SEC with its second conference win in a week. Jorda Crook recorded the 1,000th kill of her career in the win. The Rebels are 8-5 overall; Missouri drops to 8-6 and 1-1.

Set Scores

Ole Miss 3, Missouri 1 — 25-20, 25-22, 20-25, 25-20

Who Did It

  • Jorda Crook — 13 kills, three blocks, one ace, and the 1,000th kill of her career
  • Melia Johnson — 13 kills and two blocks, six of those kills in the first set alone
  • Shayla Meyer — 10 kills, two aces, one block
  • Keirstyn Carlton — four kills and four blocks

How It Went

Johnson set the tone in the opening frame with six kills, and Ole Miss closed it out 25-20. The second was tighter but went the same way, 25-22, and the Rebels were a set from the match.

Missouri pushed back in the third and took that one 25-20 to stay alive. The Rebels shut the door in the fourth, where serving pressure from Meyer and Jackson helped Ole Miss keep control the rest of the way and finish it off 25-20.

The Margins

The two teams were separated by almost nothing in the raw numbers — Ole Miss finished with 47 kills on .216 hitting to Missouri’s 45 on .212, and Missouri actually had more assists, 45 to 43. The Rebels won the parts of the match that do not show up in the hitting line: six aces to four, and nine blocks to five.

Up Next

Ole Miss stays home to continue SEC play, hosting Vanderbilt on Sunday, Oct. 4. First serve is 2 p.m. CT on SEC Network Plus.
