Ole Miss fell 2-0 to No. 5 Alabama on Friday night at the Alabama Soccer Complex in Tuscaloosa. Both goals came inside the first 27 minutes, and the Rebels could not find a way back. Ole Miss drops to 7-6-0 overall and 0-5-0 in the SEC; Alabama climbs to 12-1-0 and 5-0-0 in conference play.
Final
No. 5 Alabama 2, Ole Miss 0 — at Tuscaloosa, Ala.
How It Went
Alabama got on the board in the ninth minute through Ashley Roni, with Melina Rebimbas and Maison Smith credited on the assist. Ole Miss came close to an immediate answer — Ava Ghoreishi and Katie Ramsden each manufactured a look — but Alabama goalkeeper Madi Munguia turned both away.
Kennedy Garcia doubled the lead at 26:02, finishing a Kiley Kukan assist. For all of that, the first half was an even exchange on the shot sheet: Ole Miss matched Alabama at nine shots apiece, and Jenna Studer got an attempt off in the closing seconds before the break, only for Munguia to save again.
The second half belonged to Anna Claire Jacobi. The Ole Miss goalkeeper made five of her saves after halftime to keep the score where it was, finishing with eight across the full 90 minutes.
