Ole Miss men’s tennis opened the ITA Men’s All-American Championships on Saturday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and got through the first day without a loss. Four Rebels played in the Round of 256. All four won, and all four won in straight sets.
The Four Winners
- Moritz Kudernatsch (senior) — def. Maxim DuBouch, Georgia, 6-2, 6-3
- Vlado Jankanj (sophomore) — def. Benjamin Sparks, Liberty, 6-2, 6-0
- Mason Landreth (senior) — def. Eudald Gonzalez, Georgia, 6-2, 6-4
- Pietro Pampanin (sophomore) — def. Ashton Adesoro, 6-1, 6-3
How It Went
Kudernatsch was the first Rebel through. He controlled his match from the opening game and gave up only five games across the two sets against Georgia’s DuBouch.
Jankanj had the most lopsided afternoon of the group. He took the first set 6-2 over Liberty’s Sparks and then shut him out in the second, winning 6-2, 6-0 and giving up two games in the match.
Landreth made it two wins over Georgia opponents, taking control early against Gonzalez and then holding him off in a closer second set to finish 6-2, 6-4.
Pampanin closed the day for Ole Miss, dropping just four games in a 6-1, 6-3 win over Adesoro.
What It Means
The four wins put four Ole Miss singles players into the Round of 128 at one of the premier collegiate events of the fall.
