Good morning, Everydayers.
Three days. Three Ole Miss players stood at a podium Tuesday — Will Echoles, Kewan Lacy and Deuce Alexander — and not one of them sounded like a man walking into the biggest home game in sixty-four years. That is the whole story of this week, and it has been since December.

Pete Golding spent part of Monday asking Ole Miss fans how to behave Saturday night, and the line that traveled was this one: “Let’s not lose that over a game, over a person, or anything else like that.”
Over a person. Nobody had to ask who.
But here is the part of that answer that got buried, and it is the part that actually matters to the football game. Golding told us exactly what he wants from that crowd, and it has nothing to do with anybody’s feelings. He said the helmet-to-helmet communication in college football now means most of the call goes from the sideline to the player. Sixty-seven thousand people screaming breaks that. And when it breaks, LSU is no longer running the coach’s decision. They are running a twenty-year-old’s decision, made in about four seconds, in the loudest building he has been in all season.
That is not a mood. That is a scheme problem for the visitor, and it is the cheapest advantage on the board Saturday. It costs you nothing but showing up early and staying loud.
And remember what makes it work: Saturday is LSU’s first road game of the entire season. Everything they have run, they have run at home, with their own crowd behind them and a sideline that can talk.

Two things in that table deserve a second look. Ole Miss won this game last year, 24-19, and almost nobody has mentioned it all week. And LSU’s defense is allowing twelve points a game — that is the number that should worry you far more than anything anybody said at a podium.

📊 The Line
It opened Ole Miss -1.5. It is now LSU-favored. That is a swing of more than four points away from the Rebels in a week they won by thirty-two, and the total has climbed from 57.5. The market is telling you something about LSU’s speed and about our secondary, and both of those readings are defensible.
