No. 7 LSU rolls into Oxford on Saturday for the SEC opener with College GameDay in tow, and the Rebels arrive off a 41-9 tune-up over Charlotte that did exactly what it needed to: get healthy, stay clean, and give the Tigers as little to study as possible. On the Latest Locked On Ole Miss
The 41-9 win was built to teach you nothing before LSU, and that was the point. A few things still leaked out worth carrying into the biggest week of the season so far (watch the full episode here):
- Caleb Cunningham is going to be a problem. Six catches, 65 yards in his first real action, mostly on simple hitches. At 6-1 and 215 with real speed, he gives this offense a receiver who wins the football instead of just winning leverage.
- Hold the secondary concern, but do not turn it into a verdict yet. Charlotte moved the ball through the air, the busts are on tape, and it needs to get fixed. But we said the same thing about the offensive line last September, and by November nobody was talking about it.
- The blueprint for a hyper-aggressive defense already exists. Think back to the 2023 Peach Bowl: you beat that style with tempo, by getting the ball out fast, and by making them wrong quickly. Chambliss and this staff have seen it before.
No. 7 LSU vs. No. 8 Ole Miss: GameDay Comes to Oxford Saturday

It is finally here. LSU visits Vaught-Hemingway for a 6:30 CT kick on ABC with College GameDay set up in Oxford, the first top-10 meeting in this series in decades. Deuce Alexander led the way with eight catches for 76 yards as the clear top target, and Kewan Lacy, back from a thigh issue, ran 13 times for 87 yards and two touchdowns. Chambliss, the kicking game and the run game all graded out high, but the secondary drew a D after Charlotte found room through the air. Soccer Drops SEC Opener to Mississippi State
