TOLEDO, Ohio — The No. 19 Ole Miss men’s golf team opened the Inverness Intercollegiate tied for 12th, posting a 15-over 299 in the first round.

The Course Won the Day

The Donald Ross design lived up to its reputation. Iowa was the only team in the field to finish the round under par, at 283 (-1), and no individual in the field bettered a 3-under 68.

Claycomb Opens at Even Par

Cooper Claycomb made his Ole Miss debut and gave the Rebels their start, birdieing the second hole and adding another on 14. He stayed steady the rest of the way and finished the round at even par, tied for eighth and three shots off the individual lead.

The Rest of the Card

Freshman Tomas Restrepo made his collegiate debut and shot a 4-over 75, good for a tie for 37th. Eduardo Matarazzo posted a 5-over 76 and sat tied for 51st.

Collins Trolio birdied the fifth hole and closed the day at 6-over. Finn Meister picked up a birdie on the back nine and finished at 7-over.
