The Walter Camp Football Foundation announced its 50-man preseason watch list for the 2026 Player of the Year award Monday, and both Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss and running back Kewan Lacy made it. The Rebels are one of nine programs nationally with more than one player on the list.
Chambliss, a Walter Camp semifinalist a season ago, ranks among the country’s top returning quarterbacks after a 2025 campaign of 3,937 passing yards and 22 touchdowns with 527 yards and eight scores added on the ground. His preseason haul already includes the Maxwell Award watch list, first-team All-America honors from On3, and preseason all-SEC selections from the conference media, Athlon and Phil Steele.
Lacy set two program records last season with 1,567 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns, earning first-team All-America honors and finishing as a Doak Walker Award finalist. The Dallas native adds Walter Camp to a preseason résumé that already carries the Maxwell watch list, first-team All-America nods from Walter Camp, ESPN, On3, Athlon and Phil Steele, and first-team all-conference honors from numerous outlets.
Semifinalists arrive in early November and three finalists in early December, with the winner named during the second week of December.
Ole Miss opens Sept. 6 against Louisville at 6:30 p.m. CT at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.
