UNIVERSITY RELEASE — Originally published by Ole Miss Athletics, Aug. 16, 2026.
Ole Miss soccer struck twice inside a single minute of the first half Sunday afternoon and held on for a 2-1 win at Louisiana, taking its first road victory of the season at the Home Bank Soccer & Track Complex in Lafayette. It was also the program’s first win at that venue.
The Rebels move to 2-0-0 under first-year head coach Todd Shulenberger. Louisiana falls to 1-1-0.
The Ragin’ Cajuns had the better of the opening minutes, missing wide in the second and seventh minutes. Ole Miss answered at 10:09 when Isabella Pontieri finished a pass from Audrey Shackelford — a first goal for one and a first assist for the other in Ole Miss colors. Fifty-six seconds later, Maizy Kluksdal set up defender Paxton Bock for her own first as a Rebel, and the lead was two.
Ole Miss kept coming. Katie Ramsden pushed an attempt wide in the 14th minute and Isabelle Wright forced a save in the 32nd, with the Rebels reaching halftime having put four of seven shots on target and won four corners.
Pontieri nearly doubled her tally in the 50th minute before Louisiana pulled one back at 54:11 through Miku Kurihara, assisted by Addison Soehn. Taylor Prigge turned Kurihara away again in the 63rd minute, and Louisiana sent its last two looks of the match wide.
Louisiana edged the shot count 9-8, but Ole Miss landed five on goal to the hosts’ two, swept all seven corner kicks and held 54 percent of possession. Prigge went the full 90 in goal with one save and her second win of the year.
The road trip continues Thursday at College of Charleston, with an 8 p.m. CT kickoff on FloCollege.
