Ole Miss soccer makes its first road trip of the season Sunday, heading to Lafayette, Louisiana, to face the Ragin’ Cajuns. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
The Rebels arrive off a season-opening win. Ole Miss beat Murray State 1-0 on Wednesday night at Ole Miss Soccer Stadium, with Katie Ramsden converting in the 63rd minute off an assist from Sarah Granno for the match’s only goal. Taylor Prigge went the full 90 minutes in goal and made one save for the shutout. The Rebels dominated possession, outshooting the Racers 22-4 and taking a 10-1 edge in corner kicks. Twelve newcomers — 10 transfers and two freshmen — made their Ole Miss debuts that night.
Sunday marks the eighth all-time meeting between the programs, the last coming in September 2025. Ole Miss has won every previous one, holding a 7-0 series edge.
A New Era
This season begins the Todd Shulenberger era in Oxford. Named the fourth head coach in program history on Dec. 1, 2025, Shulenberger arrives from Washington State, where 11 seasons produced a 113-67-34 record — the most wins in that program’s history — along with five NCAA Tournament appearances and its first College Cup trip in 2019. He coached 43 all-conference selections there and 10 players who went on to be drafted into the NWSL or USL Super League.
Scouting Louisiana
The Ragin’ Cajuns finished 2025 at 7-6-5 overall and 4-3-3 in Sun Belt play, scoring 33 goals on 265 shots while allowing 19 and posting six shutouts. Carson Glenn and Miku Kurihara each netted seven goals, with Glenn adding three assists for a team-leading 17 points. Louisiana opened this season with a 4-1 win over Southeastern Louisiana as Kurihara, Sydney Byrnes, Addison Soehn and Madelyn Linenkugel all scored, Glenn assisted twice and keeper Ally Allen made five saves.
Roster and Recognition
Ole Miss carries a 30-player roster with 17 newcomers — 14 transfers and three true freshmen — drawn from 16 states plus Leeds, England, home of returning forward Katie Ramsden. Eight of the transfers followed Shulenberger from Washington State: Audrey Shackelford, Keira Mitchell, Alena Watts, Maizy Kluksdal, Ava Ghoreishi, Becca Skinner, Isabelle Wright and Jenna Studer.
Ramsden returns as the team’s 2025 leader in goals, points, shots and shots on goal, having started all 15 matches for four goals, an assist and nine points. Granno was next with two goals and five points, while Tate Blincoe and Evie Ewing each added one.
North Florida transfer Isabella Pontieri was named to the 2026 Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy watch list, one of 45 midfielders and seven SEC players selected. She played 57 matches from 2023-25 with 14 goals and 12 assists, and earned first-team All-ASUN honors last season while leading the conference in assists, shots, shots on goal and game-winning goals.
Five Rebels — Paxton Bock, Ghoreishi, Shackelford, Studer and Watts — landed on the 2026 SEC Soccer Preseason Watch List, all of them in their first season at Ole Miss.
